Petya Yovcheva successfully demonstrates the power and potential of leadership in a very challenging field – HR recruitment. She has more than 20 years of professional experience in business development, sales management, HR consulting and recruitment. She holds an EMBA Degree from The American University in Bulgaria. In 2011 she created Skill Force – an HR consulting company focused on recruitment of managerial and expert positions in a wide spectrum of industries.
What should a company do to successfully attract employees in 2023?
Globally, everyone is talking about recession and mass layoffs, but the Bulgarian labour market is incredibly active. There are many open managerial and expert positions. Qualified Bulgarians who have studied and gained experience abroad, choose to return to Bulgaria and work for successful Bulgarian and international companies. A significant number of foreign companies decide to open an office in Bulgaria and grow their teams here because of the qualified labour force. In this highly competitive environment, in order to attract talent, the companies should show flexibility, listen to their people and despite the new home office reality or completely remote work, they should build the feeling of belonging in the company and offer their employees opportunities to acquire new skills and knowledge, trust them and help them grow.

I believe that leadership is gender neutral. The leader should see the effect of their present actions, follow their plans despite the obstacles, identify the exceptional qualities that each member of their team possesses and encourage their development, be empathetic. Up to now for women in top positions, it was important to prove that they can deal with the large scale, and manage big teams and processes. Today women have to meet even a higher standard – they should be able to calmly express their individuality, state their firm position, be able to take risks, be inspiring and even more confident leaders.
